An amazing coincidence!

A remarkable and amazing coincidence has occurred! A group of candidates that have no connection to unison action broad left (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) have banded together to form a slate. This slate, that has nothing to do with the hard left faction (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) have produced a flyer, on one side the list of candidates and on the other side a manifesto.

A new member asked the hard left faction if there was a unison action broad left slate for the NEC elections. The response came back that there was no unison action broad left slate this year, providing a link to a list of candidates and a manifesto. The questioner asked if there is any connection with unison action broad left, to which the the response was “none whatsoever”.

Being a curious individual I decided to check the information posted for my self.

I thought to myself; this is very odd, there seem to be a majority of people on this list that are known members of unison action broad left. How very strange I thought! Why would these people not associate themselves with unison action broad left? This must be some new group I thought to myself; some new hard left faction; where oh were is unison action broad left?

I then remembered that I had seen this manifesto before, at the Heath and Community conferences.

Imagine my surprise to discover that this mystery group of candidates who have nothing to do with unison action broad left (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) had used the exact same manifesto as the unison action broad left flyers. I ask you, what are the odds? This has to be the greatest coincidence in electoral history.

Of course this is not a coincidence and there is no mystery behind who is responsible for the slate. The hard-left faction are failing miserably to keep their mitts off anything to do with the NEC elections, because they know that anyone who uses the resources of an external body will be liable for disciplinary action. They must think that UNISON members are stupid and that they will not notice that these lying charlatans are behind this. The only idiots here are they themselves. You would have thought that when planning this colossal lie, that one of them may have thought that someone would put two and two together and make four.

These people really are bad news and I ask you reader not to vote for anyone on that list. If they can lie to you about this, what else are they lying about? Those of you that have attended the Community and Health conferences will have seen these documents, so you know they are genuine.

These NEC elections are important to all members, you may not know all the candidates if any in some circumstance, but I think you ought to thank unison action broad left for providing you with a list of people not to vote for.

Thanks for reading.

Gilets Jerks

So, our friends in the hard-left rouge faction, are now calling upon our members to take part in illegal activities. Let’s be like the French, don the yellow vests and lets stop putting up with this vile Tory government”. They are calling on members to attend the up-and-coming demonstration in London on 12 January 2019, organised by the People’s assembly the campaign for a general election. As you will no doubt recall, the activities of Gilets Jaunes in Paris towards the end of 2018, involved acts of violence, vandalism and disorder. This behaviour cause d a number of innocent members of the public to be injured by those involved in these activities.

Unison action broad left, seem to be of the belief that is okay to involve our members in this type of criminal activity. Clearly, they have no concerns to the welfare and well-being of our members, and are content to use them is Canon fodder in support of their own aims. This attitude is totally reckless and not what our trade union is about. Unison has a long tradition of peaceful protest in support of its aims and objectives. Unison has never condoned the use of violence or aggression to support its policies. The call on members to act in a violent and criminal manner, exemplifies the attitude the hard-left faction when it comes to supporting our members. They seem content to put them in harm’s way and to make them into criminals.

These people are nothing more than anarchists masquerading as socialists, they bring shame upon the trade union movement. Some of these people will be looking to get elected to UNISON’s NEC in the very near future. While we are on this subject it is worth noting that the hard-left faction is fearful of paid officials attending their branch meetings. You have to ask why? Well it is clear they have something to hide and are now claiming that paid officials cannot attend branch meetings. This is of course nonsense! Accountability and working within the union’s rules are something they fear. If they have nothing to hide, why are they against it?

It is worth noting that one of the shady characters that is not a UNISON member makes comment on UNISON’s rules. Why is this person interested in the activities of UNISON? They claim to be an authority, however this Socialist party member has a little too much to do with the business of unison action broad left, why is this?

Their real agenda will become more apparent, although if you take time to look, it is plain for all to see. They are happy to cast members into the dust and use them in support of their fantasy politics driven by the SWP/Socialist party agenda. Remember the rouge faction are not recognised by UNISON and are classed as an outside body; there is good reason for this.

The faction that refuses to accept that it is a faction

The hard left faction otherwise known as unison action broad left, who are backed by the SWP/Socialist party, received a cold dose of reality at the recent NEC meeting (6th December 2018). Now officially recognised as an outside body by UNISON, they have not taken the news well. They are claiming that this designation is anti democratic and an abuse of human rights. This of course nonsense!

They claim that they should have the right to organise against our union and actively campaign against the democratically decided policies of the union and to bully and intimidate officials, both lay and paid, in pursuit of their aims. They also believe they should have the right to campaign on behalf of the SWP/Socialist party within the union, putting their political allegiances before the union.

The NEC debated the procedures for the forthcoming NEC elections and were of the strong belief that outside bodies and political parties should play no part in the elections. Candidates should not be backed or supported financially or otherwise by these groups.

As you would imagine, the hard left faction spoke against the procedures, they even stated that they did not support collective responsibility, which is a fundamental democratic principle and central to the ethical process of the union. I am sure you will agree that this is astounding hypocrisy from the hard left faction who claim to be a democratic organisation. This is clear evidence that they are not.

They procedures were agreed in draft form at the NEC’s Development and Organising committee, having gone through legal scrutiny. Members of the hard left faction were present at the meeting and are bound by collective responsibility, this didn’t prevent them from voting against it at the NEC meeting.

I note that they have put out a statement on Facebook signed by Socialist party members, the statement most probably penned by one of the shady characters who associate themselves with the faction.

They are claiming that the election procedures are outside of UNISON’s rules against the democracy guidelines and a breach of Human rights, namely freedom of association. Theses allegations have no basis in fact and could be considered as pure fantasy and wishful thinking.

I welcome the decision of the NEC and congratulate them on showing true leadership in standing up to the bullying and corrosive hard left faction. This is not before time!

I am sure this won’t be last we hear of this as there is nothing more than a futile campaign to make them feel as though they are valid. They do like to whip up a storm and drop it as soon as the terrain gets a little difficult. You will no doubt hear all sorts of allegations and threats from the hard left faction, but they cannot hide from the truth, they are not part of UNISON, they are an external body who work outside the rules of out union for their own political ends supported by the SWP/Socialist party.

Our union should always come first and we should always support collective decisions wether we personally support them or not, that is the grown up responsible thing to do.

PERCEPTION! a confusion of facts

Here we go again, the hard left faction making a mountain out of a molehill or rather a reality out of a perception. The latest lunacy from unison action broad left is a ridiculous attack on the perception many people have of trade unions and which are perpetuated by anti trade union politicians (otherwise known as the government).

So let’s be clear what we are talking about; the dictionary definition “perception”- the way in which something is regarded, understood, or interpreted. The hard left faction definition “perception” – this is the truth, the reality, the actual facts.

What they are saying? This was posted on their twitter feed, “There is so much wrong with it. It denigrates battles fought by previous generations. It implies that militant struggle is only the property of men. It erases Grunwick. It ignores the current battles in Glasgow & Birmingham. It’s shameful”.

It would be so easy to insult their crass stupidity on this matter, but I will refrain; a bit… They actually prove the point of the caption in their comment. This is the “perception” P E R C E P T I O N… For crying out loud!

7F8093E0-EB8C-454C-A985-0DA34356D48F

Of course perception does not reflect the facts as it is based on assumption. Do a google search for NUPE strike and you will see many sisters involved in strike action, so I am surprised that they reference Grunwick (http://www.striking-women.org/module/striking-out/grunwick-dispute) and how “perception could erase a well reported documented dispute by Asian women. Also worth remembering that they lost the dispute, something the hard left faction claims as a success.

This is fact not perception. If the only pictures of strike are of the Miners Strike or Longbridge etc. Then your “perception” will be exactly as described. Of course the real reason for this faux outrage is to have another go at UNISON, their favourite target. They of course know best, they of course can run the union better. The Grunwick dispute ran for two years, can you imagine any public service workers taking sustained industrial action for that length of time? Also worth noting that the Grunwick strikes were not in any of UNISON’s partner unions.

As with all things, the hard-left faction’s ideology is rooted in the 1970’s when life was a little simpler economically for working people. The law enabled trade unions to act in a more militant way and to offer support in a very different way. The world has moved on and deindustrialisation, globalisation, technology and the nature of debt has changed communities for ever. The economic stresses and strains on modern workers is completely different.

I am told that a number of people that associate themselves with unison action are independently wealthy, so they would be able to survive the financial impact of industrial action far better than the people they encourage to fight their politically charged disputes.

As I have said before, I am not anti strike, it has its place and when used effectively can be successful. The hard left faction wants strikes all of the time, it is there first line of attack. Well let me tell you, I have been involved in organising industrial action, I have taken part in industrial action and the work involved does not finish when the dispute has ended. It can take a lot of effort, time and pain to rebuilt a relationship with you members and your employer. Funny how these people are never around to help with that heavy load. The move onto the next dispute so they can make themselves look good and massage their own egos. I have seen it many times, they just abandon the members and the activists.

The childlike affectation of unison action broad left is to be pitied, how sad it is that adults can behave in a way that is detrimental to our members and our union. Their SWP/Socialist party fuelled outdated fantasy politics is tired and impotent and best left in the 1970’s where it belongs. The absurd dick swinging and pissing contests is pathetic, they really need to grow up and put away their childish fantasies.

The piece in the UNISON activist magazine identifies that we need to wipe away the perceptions of what modern trade unionism is about. It seeks to encourage members to get involved and get active. It most certainly is not about reinforcing stereotypes or attacking disputes of the past. UNISON recognises that trade unionism has had to change, that our tools have had to be adapted to deal with 21st century situations. People have changed and so have their needs. This latest attempt to rubbish UNISON is most likely out of fear, because the hard left faction know its days are numbered.

Saints and Sinners

The hard left faction have held some meetings recently, I hear on the grape vine that they have been looking at their slate for the upcoming NEC Elections and have ditched their support for certain individuals. Given that their current obsession is open selection within the Labour Party, it would be interesting to find out how they have selected this slate. I will put money on them being the usual suspects with a smattering of SWP/Socialist party loyalist fuhrer favorites. Certainly they will have employed some McCarthyistic endeavor to root out anyone they believe has shown Blairite, right tendencies, which is faction code for anyone who does not agree with them.

Surely the aim for the Labour Party is to is to become the next government, and if serious about this, all efforts and energy should be put to that aim. The current trigger ballot process is more than enough for the deselection of a sitting MP and replacement candidate. It is simple process low on bureaucracy and big on democracy, as in the members make the decisions. They have the usual bee in their bonnet over this, because the people that are directing them have not bothered to research how the existing process works.  Member made decisions are not something that the hard left faction are particularly fond of, despite what they say. Their SWP/Socialist party controllers who are adept in rhetoric, put much energy into perpetuating myths in support of their own political aims. The language of the hard left faction is the language of the SWP/Socialist party, check it out for yourself.

Having recently looked at the Stronger Unison Facebook page and in particular their pinned post, it is clear that the hard left faction were on the attack, as a number of them responded stating that they were indeed members of the Socialist party, you can’t help thinking that in their attempts to attack them, they actually supported the point Stronger Unison were making, and in the words of Homer Simpson “Doh!”……..

Saint Corbyn will be making his keynote speech at the Labour Party Conference this week, so doubtless the hard left faction will be making all sort of claims on the back of this. It’s going to be an interesting week, so keep your ears to the ground.

Who is Guest Informant? Q&A

Q. Who are you?

A. I am sure there are a few people who would like to know.

Q. Why do you use anonymity?

A. I use anonymity for good reason. I have dealt with several of the people who associate with unison action over the years and I genuinely believe that they would harass and intimidate me, and my family should they discover my identity. As a mother with young children, I would not want to put them through that.

Q. Are you a UNISON member?

A. Yes! I am an ordinary member just like you, who cares about her union. I am very proud of UNISON and its achievements.

Q. Why did you start this blog?

A. I got sick and tired of hearing unison action broad left slagging off our union, its leadership and its policies. I felt I could not sit back and allow them to get away with it. Having been involved with their sort of politics in the past, I feel I am well qualified to expose them for what they really are. UNISON is a great union that supports its members in so many ways that is making a difference to the lives of its members and their families.

Q. Which Political Party do you support?

A. I am a Labour Party member and have been for many years.

Q. Do you support Stronger UNISON?

A. I don’t see any issues with stronger UNISON, but I would like to see a unified union working together in the interests of all our members.

Q. Are you employed by UNISON?

A. No, I work in the Public Sector.

Q. You did go by the name of Rodney’s Ghost when you first started, why was that and why did you change it?

A. My Father was a trade unionist all his life, and I learned many of my values and opinions from him; I loved him very much. I used his name because I know that he would not have supported a hard-left faction that did not have the best interests of the membership at heart. I changed the name because people thought that it referred to the late Rodney Bickerstaff, and I did not want to cause offense to his friends and family.
